Update from Rome.

In the last couple of days, i have left Perugia (not forever) and traveled to Rome by bus and meet my aunts and grandma. We have enjoyed a couple days of viewing beautiful Rome, shopping, and eating. Our apartment is very large and beautiful. It surpassed my expectations -it's great for an Italian apartment.
This morning I had a very early wake up call, 5:30. Today we are going on a tour to Pompeii. Once ready, we left our apartment and traveled by metro to our meeting place. The group of English speakers have been split into three groups. We are a part of the violet group, with our leader named Violet.

The trip has started and we are over half way there. In the middle, we stopped in Casino to have a drink and use the restroom. I had a cappuccino and coccolato cornetto. Along the way, our tour guides have given us facts about Naples and the Italian history. Most of this I learned in my Contemporary Italy class.

After visiting some of the ruins of Pompeii, we had lunch at a large restaurant. We enjoyed a Neapolitan  pizza.

With a full stomach, we were off to conquer a volcano. That's right we climbed an active volcano in Pompeii. It was a steep hill to walk but Aunt Ellen and I made it to the top. Then it was time to head back to Rome.

Once we were back to Rome, I had to get a train ticket and we had to fin dinner. After a very long walk, we made it to a cute, hip place called Momart. After a very very extremely long day, we made it home and we all passed out.

The next day I traveled to Perugia  for Susanne's birthday. I enjoyed a gelato in the piazza and had dinner at Dal Mi' Coco. Later, we celebrated! In the morning, I traveled back to Roma.

Now, we are on our bus trip to Tuscany. We have visited a very picturesque town in the rain. However, the charm of these small Tuscan towns shine through the foggiest of days. Currently we are sitting in a winery having a Tuscan lunch. We started with an antipasta dish, followed by pasta and biscotti with  a sweet wine. All through lunch we were able to sample red wines. Some of the best in the world. We sampled the 11th best in the works.

After, we are going to walk around Pienza, another small town. These small Tuscan towns are where many movies are filmed such as The English Patient, Twilight, and Under the Tuscan Sun. As we traveled from the winery to the town, one of the houses located along the way is where from the movie the Gladiator, when Mel Gibson is remembering his home.

Tonight, everyone is tucked away in their beds. I think I might be too excited to sleep tonight. I love Perugia. No matter where I go, how long I'm away - I think a little piece of me will always call it home.   I know our tour guide said there is no place like Roma, and sure if I lived there for four months -I would feel the same way, but I lived in Perugia. The places I love to eat and drink are there because I have friends there, memories, and future hopes for those locations. So sure, it's not Roma but it's mine.

A friend of mine created this video. It captures Perugia in no other way. Enjoy! I can't wait to go back to my little find in Italy.
