Camp

Everything I write feels like rubbish.

Let's see if I can sum this up quickly - for my benefit and yours. I will tell you the highlights of my time since I last wrote...

Learn House 1 traveled an hour outside of Berlin. We traveled there on Monday morning and left Wednesday afternoon. It was a relaxing two days. As a teacher, we were in charge of getting our kids from one place to the next and of course, in our cabins. I must say sleeping in a cabin with five nervous, homesick girls is more fun when you are one of the girls. As a teacher who doesn't speak German, it was a big challenge the first night. The second night was a bit better. I was able to read a story in English and have one of my half-American students translate for me. It is a great talent to do this! (May I say this young girl is amazing. She is a young tennis player and practices almost every day-- she dreams of watching herself on TV one day. I'm hoping to take time next weekend and see her play.) Now during the day, our kids had two activities. One was at 9, the other at 2 and our only job was to sit there and watch. So I spent many the days talking with my co-teachers and reading. It was a nice ease back into school.

I go back to school tomorrow -to really work. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm ready. I have been on holiday for three weeks. I've been out of it a bit. For instances, I planned for math this week and complete forgot about my English class. Good thing I don't have that class until Tuesday. I have some time and I don't even know where to begin with them. Truth is school is my biggest struggle at times. I struggle with the concept and the lack of curriculum. I'm learning and I'm trying to wrap my traditional mindset around it and to conform a bit. Not too much because when I come home I look forward to teach in a public school.

Today I met with a woman that I met at a restaurant. She is so interesting. She comes from Denmark with her boyfriend. They moved her because they both enjoy Berlin. They are both self employed. She is a goldsmith. She creates her own jewelry- she is fascinating!  I hope we can get together again. It was so nice to chat with a girl and we just walked the streets.

On Saturday, I ventured out to a softball game. My coworker's friends are on a team. It was a perfect afternoon at the little park where they played. Of course, it was complete with a food stand. Good ole American hot dogs and hamburgers with ketch-up, mustard, pickles, onions and tomatoes. To die for. You better believe I will be attending next week too!

In any free time, I've been cooking -watching all of Castle and a new show, Reign. I don't normally watch shows like Reign but I can't stop. It's so good! I also can't stop listening to Ingrid Michaelson's new CD Light's Out. You can listen to it here: Light's Out. My favorite song is Over You. Of course, I keep up-to-date on the other shows, too.

I must go for now. I can't believe May is upon us. It feels like yesterday was March. I should go because I will hate my alarm tomorrow if I don't.

All my love- xoxox

**Pictures to come soon.
