Today has been my day to relax. I normally take this too far by doing absolutely nothing but today I have done some school work and now updating my blog for all of you. But it has been a day of no brushing my hair, staying in my pajamas, and watching MASH one episode after another.
At the beginning of the school year, some of my students brought gifts. I got honey, candles, and chocolate. One student brought two gifts. She made me a handmade felt ring, as well as, a sunflower. She showed me how she eats the seeds right from the flower.
Here at the beginning of the year, it truly feels like back to school. Sharpened pencils, new clothes, and crispy leaves under foot. Yes, leaves are covering the sidewalks and the tress are already turning. I can't believe it! I do love fall and I'm not opposed to fall coming early. I am opposed to winter coming even earlier. Lucky for us, Berlin has decided not to change completely. Every so often, we have a warm day. This coming week is suppose to hit 80 again! Another few nights to spend in beer gardens, like this one... Cafe am neuen see.
I think in the past two weeks, I have had more social events than in the last six months in Berlin. Let's see...
One night, I had dinner at Natalie's with Natalie, John, Kevin, and Rita. We made our own little meals complete with great conversation and warm cake. |

Another night, Natalie and I had just dessert at Litehouse in Lichterfelde West. |
One night, a group of us meet up for pizza and then a bit of walking around Berlin. We walked by the canal and found a bit of dancing. John knew the steps and taught each of us a bit. |

Saturday, five of us took a two and half hour bus ride to Dresden. I knew nothing about Dresden before getting there; other than it was demolished by the war. To be honest, I'm not sure of all the historical importance of the photos below. I just enjoyed walking around taking in the views on a foggy day. The city seems to be split by the river. On one side, the city has many custom shops and numerous restaurant. On the other side of the bridge, there feels to be a old city history feel. On this side, they have the castles, the church, the little German fashioned restaurants and colorful buildings. We had great luck- we found a little fall market. It was located in a square that we stumbled upon. It was a bit like the Christmas market in Mifflinburg. Each food stand seemed to sell beer, potatoes, and sausage. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon in Dresden.
Well that is all for now. Busy week- doctor's appointment and parents evening. All my love.
xx
