Gubbio

I begin every blog with apologizing to you for not writing sooner or more often. However, I'm not apologizing because I've been truly enjoying myself. Don't misunderstand I miss many things about America.

Lately, I've been working on applications, homework, and presentations. Daily I've been spending time with friends and trying to soak up every minute together. Tomorrow mark one month until my program ends and I will be finished with my college career. It's still a shocking statement.

In the past couple of weeks, I have stayed in Perugia. Other than this past weekend. I traveled with my Italian friend to Gubbio. Gubbio is another hill-town in the Umbria region. We had a relaxing day as we explored the city. Since I was with an Italian, I did what the Italians do. As soon as we got there -we had coffee. I had my first cappuccino.

Afterwards, we walked up the hill to the square. Unlike in Perugia, there is no fountain but just an opening near an old historic church that overlooks the city below. Here is a photo of me in the piazza.
We continued to explore a bit more finding many museums, churches, and sadly, very few shops that were open. We did find a lift that took us farther up the mountain. It was similar to a ski lift but shaped like a bird cage that was open on all sides and only two individuals could fit at once. I was thankful my friend was not afraid of heights because I was so nervous!

After traveling up the mountain, the view was breathtaking. Once we were on the mountain top, there wasn't much to see. So we traveled back down the whole journey lasting a half an hour with the walk.

Once back on the ground, so to say, we searched for a place to eat. Truthfully many restaurants were closed but we found one. We had a wonderful meal that wasn't even pasta! I had roast beef that was thinly sliced and served cold and a delicious jello like creme smothered in chocolate.

After lunch, we drove back to Perugia. That is my latest adventure. The rest of the time I've been just staying busy with work. This weekend I am going to Siena again and after this weekend, the real adventure starts.
